Technical processing and security
Server, access and security information may be processed temporarily to deliver, secure and technically manage the website. This information can be used for troubleshooting, security monitoring and protection against misuse.
First-party website analytics
Markets Understood uses its own privacy-oriented measurement layer to understand use of the public website at an aggregate level. This may include public page views, response status, general referrer information, browser classification and country information.
This basic measurement does not store a full IP address as a visitor identifier, does not use query strings to build visitor profiles and does not perform cross-site tracking or advertising profiling.
Cookies and consent
The website uses a necessary first-party cookie to remember the visitor's cookie preference. This choice is retained for up to 6 months.
Only when a visitor gives analytics consent is a random first-party visitor ID also placed. This pseudonymous ID is retained for up to 90 days from placement and helps Markets Understood distinguish new and returning browsers at an aggregate level.
The visitor ID contains no name or email address, does not use a full IP address as its identifier and is not used for advertising, cross-site tracking or connection to external advertising networks.
With analytics consent, the visitor ID may temporarily appear in the raw first-party analytics log. These log files are rotated daily; the server configuration retains up to 14 rotated log files. In the aggregated visitor history, the visitor ID itself is not retained: only a hashed derivative is stored, for a maximum of 90 days.
Changing cookie preferences
Cookie preferences can be changed using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of the website. When necessary cookies only are selected, no analytics visitor ID is used and any previously placed analytics visitor ID is removed.
Exchange accounts remain separate
Markets Understood is independent from Bitvavo and Kraken. Personal information users provide directly to an exchange is processed under that exchange's own systems and privacy terms, not through this pre-launch website.
Future commercial functionality
If accounts, subscriptions, payments, alerts or other user-specific functionality are introduced, the privacy information will be expanded to explain the relevant processing before those services are made publicly available.
